San Juan, Argentina – Day four of the Desafio Ruta 40 threw a technical course and a speeding penalty at Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Daniel Sanders, but the Aussie rider persevered and remains in eighth place overall with one stage to go.

Sanders tackled the challenging 391-kilometre timed special stage, making up time throughout the day and finding a good rhythm on his bike.

He initially placed seventh, but a six-minute penalty for exceeding the speed limit pushed him back to 11th.

“Today was interesting,” Sanders said. “The morning sand wasn’t ideal for me, and the cold temperatures made navigation tricky with all the mist. But I stayed focused, pushed on, and minimized my time loss. The afternoon opened up with a faster section, and though it was a long day overall, I enjoyed it and I’m ready for the final stage.”
